Helm Live University track 3, Battles and Power-ups

This lesson prepares you to: Explain why a battle score can exceed the coins received, and prove it never works the other way.

Two numbers, one of which is money

A battle produces two figures and they are not the same thing.

  • Your earnings. The raw coins viewers actually spent, credited to you as diamonds. This is money.
  • The battle score. Coins multiplied by whatever power up was running. This is the game.

Because of the multiplier, the score on screen can be higher than the coins you received. That is by design and not a rounding error. A 1,000 coin gift landing under a Surge that fires shows 3,000 on the bar, and credits you 1,000 diamonds.

1,000 coins under a Surge that fires = 3,000 battle points, and 1,000 diamonds, which is $10.00 gross.

It never works the other way

The guarantee runs in one direction only, and it is worth stating plainly because it is the thing creators most need to trust.

No power up, multiplier, smoke, anchor or scoring filter can reduce what you are paid. Not one of them touches a coin balance, a gift record or a diamond balance. The part of Helm that scores battles is built so that it structurally cannot: it reads the gift ledger and writes only to the two game tables, and it has no access to the money ones at all.

The file that decides what a power up does imports nothing whatsoever. It cannot reach a database or a money module even if somebody later asked it to. That is not a policy anyone has to remember to follow, it is a wall.

What to say on stream

Viewers ask about this constantly, usually as some version of "does the multiplier mean you get more?". The honest answer is short.

No. The multiplier changes the number on the bar. What reaches you is the coins that were actually spent, every time, whatever is running. A power up makes the race more interesting; it does not make a gift worth more or less to you than the viewer paid for it.

Losing a battle costs you nothing you earned

The result decides who won and who gets the grants. It does not claw back a diamond. Every gift sent to you during a battle is yours whether you win, lose or draw, and a draw does not put a loss on anybody's record.

That is the whole of battles as they run today. Three formats, three power ups you can buy, three you can only win, one reproducible roll, and a hard wall between the game and the money.

Next: track 4, which is about what you do on camera rather than what the money does.
