This lesson prepares you to: Decide whether to convert diamonds into coins by calculating exactly what you get back.

Turning diamonds back into coins

You can convert earned diamonds into spendable coins and use them on Helm, on other creators, on gifts and power-ups. It is a good feature. It is also the single most misunderstood number on the platform, so here is the honest version.

The conversion is not 1 to 1. It applies your effective split, exactly like cashing out does. 1,000 diamonds becomes about 500 coins at the 50% base, and 600 coins at the 60% cap.

1,000 diamonds, cashed out1,000 diamonds, converted
$5.00 at the 50% baseAbout 500 coins, worth $5.00 to spend
$6.00 at the 60% capAbout 600 coins, worth $6.00 to spend

The reason is the one you learned in the first lesson. A diamond is gross value, and the split has to be applied exactly once. Cashing out applies it. Converting applies it. If conversion ran at a flat 1 to 1, a creator would get roughly double the value out of converting than out of cashing the same balance, which would mean the split was never applied at all.

This was a real bug

One of the two conversion routes did run at a flat 1 to 1 rate. It was found and fixed in July 2026. We are telling you because you may remember the old rate, and because a curriculum that hides its own bugs is not worth reading.

One more rule. Diamonds that are already promised to an open payout cannot be converted. The platform will not let the same diamond be spent twice, so if you have a cash out in progress, that portion of your balance is locked until it clears.

So how should you think about it? Converting and cashing out give you the same value. The difference is where that value can go. Cash out and it is dollars in your bank, useful everywhere and gone from Helm. Convert and it is coins, useful only here, which is exactly what you want if you plan to support other creators, back a friend's live, or keep a float for sending gifts yourself.

And the timing lever is the same lever as everywhere else. Both conversion and cash out read your split at the moment you act. Doing either while holding a higher fleet is worth more than doing it on Bronze Anchor, on the same balance, on the same diamonds. Nothing else about the transaction changes.

Next: the fleet ladder itself, in track 2.
