Lesson 8.5

A live sale is an ordinary sale

There is no live checkout. There is checkout, and some of it happens during a live.

Prefer to listen? This is the same lesson, word for word. The text below is the transcript.

This lesson prepares you to: Explain why live selling changes nothing about the order, and how to measure a show anyway.

The same checkout, deliberately

A viewer buying a pinned product goes through exactly the same checkout as somebody who found the product in a category three days ago. Not a similar one. The same one.

That is a decision rather than an accident. Reusing it means the family spend approval gate and the Stripe path are the ones already proven, rather than a second implementation that would eventually disagree with the first.

So everything in tracks 3 and 4 applies unchanged during a live show:

  • Your payout connection must be ready or the sale is refused.
  • A kid or teen buyer hits their spend caps and may need a parent.
  • Stock is taken atomically, so two viewers cannot take the last one.
  • Fees, payout hold, shipping and refunds are all identical.

Going live changes what people see. It changes nothing about what an order is.

The reporting gap

Here is the honest limitation. Helm records no link between an order and the stream it came from. There is no live sales figure, no sold during show counter and no way to attribute revenue to a broadcast.

The creator stats a live show does report cover gifts, tips, subscriptions, viewers and messages. Product sales are not among them.

How to measure a show anyway

Until attribution exists, use time. Note when you went live and when you finished, and read your orders for that window. It is crude and it will catch the odd unrelated order, but it is the only honest measure available and it is better than guessing.

If you run shows regularly, a consistent slot makes the comparison meaningful.

One thing in the live stats is not money

Gifts shown in a live stream's own chat statistics are recorded intent rather than settled money on that particular path. How gifting actually pays a creator is covered properly in Helm Live University, which is the right place for it. Do not read a live chat gift figure as revenue.

Where the money lessons live

Everything about coins, diamonds, your split, fleets, battles and power ups is in Helm Live University rather than here, so the numbers live in one place and cannot drift apart. This track is about selling products on camera. That one is about how being on camera pays.
